Duplin County Community Foundation and Foundation for Youth Advancement award more than $50,000 in local grants

The boards of advisors of the Duplin Foundation for Youth Advancement and the Duplin County Community Foundation join representatives of local 2017 grantee nonprofit organizations for a group photo following the recent grant awards ceremony.

The board of advisors of the Duplin County Community Foundation and Duplin Foundation for Youth Advancement announced $51,747 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund at a recent grants ceremony hosted at Rose Hill Restaurant.

This year’s nonprofit recipients are:

$3,000 to Beulaville Elementary GOTR/STRIDE for the Girls on the Run, Heart & Sole, and STRIDE for Boys programs
$5,000 to Chinquapin Recreation Association for Chinquapin recreation program enhancement
$5,000 to Diversity Nurtures Achievement Community Youth Center for the Diversity Nurtures Achievements After School program
$1,000 to the Diversity Nurtures Achievement Community Youth Center for the DNA Summer Enrichment Program
$5,000 to Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries for the Feed Our Hungry Children/Backpack Ministry
$1,680 to Duplin County Cooperative Extension for 4-H Summer Camp
$1,000 to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office DARE Program
$4,000 to East Duplin Youth Soccer, Inc for health development for children
$500 to the Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines for the Duplin County Girl Scout Leadership Experience
$1,000 to Grady Outlaw Memorial Library for accelerated reader program and technology availability
$3,643 to James Sprunt Community College for the Spartan Hour program
$5,000 to Kenansville Eastern Missionary Baptist Association (KEMBA) for Youth Day programs
$1,000 to Liberty Hall Restoration Liberty Hall for historical day camp for kids
$4,400 to Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina-Duplin for Duplin County Teen Court & Youth Enrichment program
$950 to the Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina – Duplin for the MCEC Duplin Youth Enrichment Program
$1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Duplin County
$5,000 to Rones Chapel Area Community Center (RCACC) for Tutor to the Top Saturday high school program
$3,704 to Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary School for the “A Team” 2018 program

Bob Kornegay, Duplin County Community Foundation board president, thanked the community for its support of the Duplin County Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Duplin County’s community fund.”
