Franklin County Community Foundation awards more than $5,600 in grants
The Franklin County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $5,610 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $1,493 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Franklin County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $600 to Lyons Den Foundation, Inc. for yoga for the community
- $1,380 to the North Carolina Symphony for music discovery for Franklin County preschoolers
- $637 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina – Franklin County
- $1,500 to Vision’s Educational Learning & Tutoring Services for general operating support
“This is about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Pamela Andrejev, advisory board president of the Franklin County Community Foundation. “We’re pleased to support these organizations through our funding.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from FCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Franklin County Education Endowment. Each year, FCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Franklin County Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members live and work in Franklin County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Andrejev, board members include Cherry Ayscue (secretary), Ashley Downing Jarema, Holt Kornegay, Ruth Wheless and Laurica Yancey.
