Graham County Community Foundation awards more than $2,700 in grants
The Graham County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $2,750 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors voted on and awarded the following grants in early September:
- $1,550 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for Robbinsville High School Bigs program and mentoring Graham County youth
- $1,200 to Four Square Community Action, Inc. for Graham County Head Start Playground Safety
While these grants were awarded for specific projects, the organizations are being offered flexibility to repurpose funding awarded for specific programs or projects to best support their current needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
“Youth are our future, and we were happy to support these local organizations serving the youngest members of our community,” said Brady Cody, advisory board president of the Graham County Community Foundation. “In partnership with NCCF, we’ll continue to invest in our neighbors across western North Carolina as they work to recover after Hurricane Helene.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from GCCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, GCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
