Hickory Public Library Kicks off Endowment Campaign

December 4, 2012
Good things happen at libraries, and Hickory Public Library is no exception. People of all ages benefit from its services: adults find assistance with career planning; children discover the joy of reading; senior citizens explore the Internet or enjoy outreach programs. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library and Ridgeview Branch Library make available to everyone an impressive collection of materials, up-to-date technology, and informative, entertaining programming.
The Hickory Public Library Endowment, established in 1998, helps insure that this high level of service will continue. The Endowment supports projects, programs, and technologies that extend beyond the funding provided by the City of Hickory, Catawba County, and the State Library of North Carolina. For example, past income was used to support a county-wide reading program, provide materials for an ongoing book club at the Ridgeview Branch, expand the number of online reference sources, and enhance the library's DVD collection for children.
As 2012 draws to a close, HPL is embarquing on a campaign to grow their endowment fund. To learn more about the Library visit their website at: http://www.hickorync.gov/library/.
To make a contribution to HPL's Endowment please contact Library Director Louise Humphrey at lhumphrey@hickorync.gov or (828) 304-0500 or John Francis, NCCF Northwestern Regional Associate at jfrancis@nccommunityfoundation.org or 336-745-1739.
