The Hoke County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $19,700 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

• $2,000 to American Red Cross Sandhills Region for disaster services – Prepare, Respond and Recover
• $2,000 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Hoke County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
• $1,000 to Community Outreach Advocate Resource and Referral Association for curing food insecurities
• $2,000 to Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills for Aging in Place Critical Home Repair program
• $2,000 to Hoke County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, Inc. for victims’ recovery assistance
• $2,000 to Hoke Reading/Literacy Council for back to basics
• $1,000 to Lumber River United Way, Inc. for McKinney-Vento Initiative
• $500 to North Carolina Symphony for music discovery for Hoke County preschoolers
• $2,000 to Raeford United Methodist Church for Holiday Helpers
• $1,200 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle for Hoke County Cares Fund
• $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, Inc. for supporting Hoke County families in medical crisis
• $1,000 to Sandhills Machine, Inc. for Big Shots Charlotte LIVE
• $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics Hoke County
• $1,000 to The Station Foundation for Interwoven outreach project: outStations

“Community self-investment is key to local resilience,” said William Wright, advisory board president of the Hoke County Community Foundation. “We’re proud to support these organizations that invest in our community.”

Funds for 2024 grants came from HCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Mary Archie McNeill Endowment Fund. Each year, HCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
