Jones County Community Foundation board member receives 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award
Taylor honored for the true spirit of volunteerism
TRENTON – Joan Taylor, past advisory board member of the Jones County Community Foundation, was honored on Monday night, as part of the Jones County Commissioners Meeting with the 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award.
Joan was recognized for her true spirt of volunteerism in the county, based on her 10 years of service on the board of the Jones County Community Foundation. She has served in a myriad of positions, including a term as the JCCF president.
A notable accomplishment during her time was the establishment of the annual JCCF Giving Campaign and Grantee Recognition Celebration. The annual event, which is held at her home, highlights the contributions of JCCF in the community and work of nonprofits within Jones County.
During Taylor’s time with JCCF she oversaw a doubling of the endowment fund that supports grants to nonprofit organizations that focus on meeting the needs of Jones County. Each year, JCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
The North Carolina Governor’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals and groups that make a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service. Individuals or groups from the public, nonprofit, and private sector are nominated for the award by community members and selected by the NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
Joan is a truly worthy recipient of the 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award.
