Lee County Community Foundation awards more than $89,000 in grants
The Lee County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $89,420 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $5,000 to American Red Cross for Disaster Cycle Services
- $1,120 to Back to Dirt Conservancy for Dirt Camp
- $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina for the OT Sloan Boys and Girls Club in Sanford, N.C.
- $15,000 to Brick Capital Community Development Corporation for general operating support
- $2,500 to Central Carolina Community College Foundation for Cougar Market Food Pantry expansion
- $2,500 to El Refugio/The Refuge Family Resource Center for Community KidsFest Literacy Camp
- $3,000 to Family Promise of Lee County, Inc., for general operating support
- $2,500 to Habitat for Humanity – Sanford for Building Hope
- $3,000 to Helping Hand Clinic for Operation Safe Space clinic relocation project
- $2,500 to Hispanic Liaison for Community Empowerment Program
- $3,000 to JR Poe Therapy Dog Ministry for general operating support
- $1,000 to Lee County Arts Council for general operating support
- $1,000 to Made4Me, Inc., for Making Abilities Possible Project
- $500 to Mann Center of North Carolina for Ballet Barres
- $5,000 to Outreach Mission, Inc., for Emergency Shelter
- $15,000 to Partnership for Children & Families for Doula Support Services – Dear Trinity
- $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Lee County
- $10,000 to the Salvation Army of Lee County for Navigation Services Operations
- $500 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Lee County Special Olympics
- $1,500 to Temple Theater for general operating support
- $2,000 to United Way of Lee County for NC 211
- $1,500 to Voices Together for VOICSS® In Education – Lee County Schools

Funds for 2024 grants came from LCCF’s community grantmaking fund, the Betty Sauls Memorial Endowment, Lisa Lynn McBryde Memorial Endowment, Margaret L. and Calvin G. Caviness Endowment, Warren and Imogene Kinder Owens Memorial Endowment, and the William J. and Emily G. Womble Endowment. Each year, LCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
