Lenoir County Community Foundation awards more than $14,000 in grants
The Lenoir County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $14,390 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $1,000 to Autism Society of North Carolina for autism resource specialists in Lenoir County
- $500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for Formula for Impact for Lenoir County
- $2,000 to Community Council for the Arts for upgrade of music classroom
- $4,500 to First Presbyterian Church for Backpack Buddies of Lenoir County
- $1,000 to LaGrange Arts Council for keeping the arts and history alive in LaGrange
- $1,000 to Lenoir-Greene Partnership for Children for Lenoir Real Men Read Initiative
- $1,390 to Neuse Regional Library for Reading Colors Your World
- $1,000 to RADD, Inc. for RADD summer camp
- $2,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina – Lenoir County
“Following the Community Needs Assessment, we took into consideration the needs of Lenoir County and chose organizations we know will make an impact in our local community,” said Sandy Skirving, advisory board president of the Lenoir County Community Foundation. “We have garnered more support from Lenoir County residents, and for that we are grateful. We are building a stronger community and keeping Lenoir County and its needs foremost in our minds.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from LCCF’s community grantmaking fund, the Oakland Fund, and the Warren and Barbara Perry Fund. Each year, LCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
