Macon County Community Foundation makes COVID-19 response grants
The board of advisors of the Macon County Community Foundation recently announced COVID-19 local response grants from the Macon County Community Disaster Relief Fund.
Grants were awarded to organizations addressing immediate needs in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Grants made from the fund include:
- $3,270 to the Macon County Care Network to support food shortages and setting up distribution channels in Macon County
- $3,270 to the Highlands Emergency Council to respond to food insecurity in households in Franklin and Highlands
- $2,000 to the International Friendship Center/The Highlands Food Pantry to respond to the increase in food insecurity due to the pandemic
“With the crisis in our county, we wanted to support organizations who are helping meet the day-to-day needs of residents in our community who are struggling right now,” said Lisa Leatherman, Macon Community Foundation board president. “These are challenging times and it’s never been more important for philanthropy to step up and help our community.”
