The Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $1,880 in grants to three organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $500 to the Greater Mt. Airy Ministry of Hospitality for summer meals for Surry County kids
- $880 to Surry Arts Council for summer arts camps
- $500 to Surry County Friends of Youth, Inc. for food for programming
“Supporting nonprofits and community organizations that serve local children and teens helps strengthen our community for generations to come,” said Sam Wagoner Jr, advisory board president of the Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation.
Funds for 2026 grants came from the Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, the community foundation’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
