Onslow Caring Communities Foundation awards more than $109,000 in grants
The Onslow Caring Communities Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $109,330 in grants to 31 organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors awarded $47,810 from its community grantmaking fund and the Onslow County Youth Fund:
- $1,000 to A Safe Place (The Centre of Redemption) for outreach and raising awareness of services for survivors of sex trafficking
- $2,500 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina for Onslow County Boys & Girls Clubs Afterschool and Summer Program Support
- $2,240 to City of Jacksonville for Jacksonville Youth Council’s HARMONY training program
- $1,000 to Comfort Zone Camp for Expanding Grief Support in Onslow County
- $3,000 to Diaper Bank of NC for Onslow County Hygiene Access Initiative
- $2,000 to Dixie’s Harvest for Hope for Community Freezer Network
- $1,000 to Hope For The Warriors for Camp Lejeune Wounded Warrior Battalion East Greenhouse Project
- $1,000 to Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina-Duplin for Onslow Building Peace in Communities
- $5,000 to MENAC for Interactive Student Development Sessions
- $5,000 to New River YMCA for general operating support
- $2,000 to One Step Transitional Home Ministry, Inc for general operating support
- $4,500 to Overflow Cafe NC for The Blessing Shed
- $1,000 to PEERS Family Development Center for Onslow Safe Rides Initiative
- $1,500 to The Salvation Army of Jacksonville for Bucket Brigade
- $1,000 to The Salvation Army of Onslow and Jones County for Onslow County Food Distribution Program
- $1,000 to Scouting America – East Carolina Council for Scouting in Onslow County
- $3,500 to Share the Table for Expanding Healthy Choices
- $1,000 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. for No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town –Jacksonville
- $3,000 to Sturgeon City of Jacksonville NC for Sturgeon City Environmental and STEAM education and outreach programs
- $1,570 to USA Cares for Stability for Military Families in Onslow County
- $1,000 to The Way 1:116 for Counseling Scholarship & Support Program
- $3,000 to Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, Inc. for general operating support in Onslow County
The board also awarded grants from the Dallas Fred Allen Endowment. The Dallas Fred Allen Endowment supports organizations with services and programs focused on the humane treatment of animals and animal welfare.
From this endowment, the board awarded $61,520 to the following organizations:
- $1,000 to Blazin’ Trails Bottle Babies for capacity building
- $2,500 to Carolina Boxer Rescue for 25 Years of Rescue: Strengthening Organizational Capacity for the Future
- $7,000 to No Collar Queens Animal Rescue for heartworm treatment and capacity building
- $10,000 to Onslow County Partners for Animal Welfare, Inc, for PawsAbility Spay/Neuter Voucher Program
- $1,000 to Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter Inc., for Wildlife Trauma Response & Recovery Program
- $10,000 to Paws 4 Purpose for 2026 Intake Diversion and Heart Healthy programs in Onslow County
- $26,000 to Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary for Ensuring ENC Wildlife for Kids – for Life
- $2,500 to Feline Rescue in the Ferry to increase kitten adoptions
- $1,520 to Adoption First Animal Rescue for Pawsitive Drainage Initiative
“Strong communities are built when people come together to support local organizations,” said Julie Henderson, advisory board president of the Onslow Caring Communities Foundation. “When donors come together their giving can go further toward creating lasting community support that helps neighbors today, and for generations to come.”
