The board of advisors of the Community Foundation for Randolph County celebrated 2014 grant awards in October at the Sunset Theater in Asheboro, according to Chris Griffin, Randolph board president. This year’s grant recipients include:
Communities in Schools of Randolph County -- middle school visits program
National Society to Prevent Blindness -- supporting the Randolph County Star pupil program
Randolph County Partnership for Children – Play Daze project
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC – additional refrigerator
Junior Achievement of Central North Carolina -- the American Dream Prepare to Succeed project.
Griffin said the Community Foundation for Randolph County was pleased to support local needs through the affiliate grants process. “These grants are important to our community and help to improve the quality of life for many,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported the Community Foundation for Randolph County.”
Board members, grant recipients and guests were in attendance, including former affiliate President Bill Hoover, Asheboro Mayor David Smith and Asheboro Finance Director Debbie Reaves. Sally Migliore, director of community leadership for NCCF, also shared information about the power of endowments. Members of the CFRC board of advisors aside from Griffin are: Grants Committee Chair Mark Hensley, Kevin Franklin, Kim Markham, Mac Pugh, Nan Revell, Wayne Thomas and Michael Whitehead.
Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Community Foundation for Randolph County Fund, which is administered by the NCCF. Contributions should be made payable to the Community Foundation for Randolph County Fund and mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, Landmark Center, 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, NC 27609. Contributions can also be made online.
