WCCF awards five grants to local nonprofits

The board of directors of the Wake County Community Foundation announces five $1,000 awards from its community fund, according to Ruth Peebles, board president. This year’s nonprofit recipients include:

Peebles thanked the community for support of the Wake County Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” she said. “These five agencies are providing basic human needs, and we are proud to be able to support them through contributions from the community.”

Howard Wasserman, grants committee chair, noted that the board was continuing to reach out to small nonprofits in Wake County. “We deliberately focus on nonprofits with smaller budgets that are working hard to reach people suffering from the economic downturn,” he said. “We know that these grants will have a large and immediate impact on the work that they’re doing.”
