Wilson County Community Foundation awards $15,000 in grants
The Wilson County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $15,000 in grants to five organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $3,000 to The Arts Council of Wilson, Inc., for ACT! for Youth: Growing Access
- $2,000 to Hand in Hand of Winstead United Methodist Church for Books for Vick
- $5,000 to Integrity Unlimited CDC for Pathways to Proficiency
- $2,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics Wilson County
- $3,000 to Wilson Youth United Inc. (doing business as The SPOT) for Harmonizing Academics and Wellness
“Supporting local nonprofits and community organizations is essential to building a stronger, more resilient Wilson County,” said Matthew Garrett, advisory board president of the Wilson County Community Foundation. “Through permanent philanthropy, we ensure every grant creates lasting impact for generations to come.”
Funds for 2025 grants came from WCCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, WCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Wilson County Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in Wilson County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Garrett, board members include Cameron Cochran and Dante Pittman. The board is actively recruiting new members for the 2026-2028 term.
