Criteria

Eligible students will be high school graduates wishing to pursue their education at an institution of higher learning such as a college, university, or community college. Special consideration will be given to students with immediate family members who attended, taught at, or were employed at the former Red Oak High School of Nash County, NC. Students must have a high school GPA of 2.63 or above, show evidence of academic promise, involvement and leadership in extracurricular activities in high school, involvement in the community and church, and demonstration of high moral character and good citizenship. Students do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify for this scholarship. ***PLEASE NOTE: Because the Red Oak Alumni Scholarship gives special consideration to students who have an association with the former Red Oak High School (as described above), applicants must include information about their connection to Red Oak High School in their essays.
