Alleghany County Community Foundation awards nearly $20,000 in grants
The Alleghany County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $19,710 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $2,500 to Alleghany High School CTE for purchase of Paxton Patterson Labs for Sparta Middle School
- $2,000 to Alleghany Jam for summer dance class and instructor
- $1,200 to Alleghany Partnership for Children for a free community event
- $2,510 to Alleghany Wellness Center for general operating support and equipment purchase
- $2,000 to Appalachian State University for senior/grandparent program
- $4,000 to Blue Ridge Development Day for general operating support
- $2,000 to Children’s Center of Surry for funding of “Real World” event
- $1,000 to Legal Aid of NC for expansion of legal aid outreach to rural clients with housing and safety needs (for Alleghany County)
- $2,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank for rural delivery fees
“We’re fortunate to have so many organizations that aid residents in our community,” said Brett Liverman, advisory board president of the Alleghany County Community Foundation. “We’re privileged to show our support with these funds.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from ACCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, ACCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Alleghany County Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members live and work in Alleghany County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
