The Alleghany County Community Foundation is a growing family of philanthropic funds, source of grants for local causes and partner for donors. ACCF was founded in 1993 and is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build community assets through the creation of permanent endowments, makes grants and leverages leadership – all for the benefit of Alleghany County.

Apply for grants
The Alleghany County Community Foundation will accept grant applications from March 15, 2024, to NOON on April 16, 2024. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted, including late submissions due to technology issues. Funds are available for qualified charitable organizations serving the local community.
Grants typically range from $500 to $2,500. In 2023, ACCF awarded $18,400 in grants through this competitive process. Learn more about past grant recipients.
Grants will be awarded from the community grantmaking fund.
How to apply
ACCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. Organizations must apply for grants using NCCF’s online application system.
- Read the guidelines before you apply. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in your application being declined.
- If this is your first time applying, follow the instructions in Training Module I to create a profile. If your organization already has an account, use your information to log in.
- Follow the instructions in Training Module II to add a grant application. Once registered, you can access more information about the application process.

- $2,500 to Alleghany High School CTE for purchase of Paxton Patterson Labs for Sparta Middle School
- $2,000 to Alleghany Jam for summer dance class and instructor
- $1,200 to Alleghany Partnership for Children for a free community event
- $2,510 to Alleghany Wellness Center for general operating support and equipment purchase
- $2,000 to Appalachian State University for senior/grandparent program
- $4,000 to Blue Ridge Development Day for general operating support
- $2,000 to Children’s Center of Surry for funding of “Real World” event
- $1,000 to Legal Aid of NC for expansion of legal aid outreach to rural clients with housing and safety needs (for Alleghany County)
- $2,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank for rural delivery fees

- $2,000 to Alleghany JAM for the Alleghany Junior Appalachian Musicians
- $500 to the Alleghany Partnership for Children for community events
- $1,500 to Appalachian State University for the Appalachian Senior Programs
- $1,625 to the Rotary Club of Alleghany County for building bridges in the community
- $1,584 to the Solid Rock Food Closet for the children’s backpack program
- $6,000 to the Sparta Revitalization Committee for the Sparta Streetscape Enhancement and Historical Designation 2020 program. This grant is made in honor of Bryan Edwards.
