Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation awards more than $4,500 in grants
The Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $4,510 in grants to five organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $755 to Chocowinity Recreation Department, Inc. for Choco Rec Complex playground
- $1,000 to Food Bank of the Albemarle for feeding the hungry in Beaufort and Hyde counties
- $755 to Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. for support for Beaufort and Hyde county residents in need of legal assistance
- $1,000 to The Salvation Army of Washington, NC for the assistance program in Beaufort County
- $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina Beaufort-Hyde
“It is an honor to provide grants to local nonprofits and community organizations,” said Michael Adams, advisory board president of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation. “Our commitment to permanent philanthropy helps fortify our communities.”
Funds for 2025 grants came from BHCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, BHCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in Beaufort and Hyde counties, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Adams, board members include Julio Morales (vice president), Lee Brimmage, Janine Carrington, Stacy Drakeford, Shelby Gibbs, Alice Keeney, Floy Loftus, Marcy Sasnett and Christopher Whitehead.
