“We are privileged to support local nonprofits and community organizations through our grants,” said Joy Chafin, advisory board president of the Edgecombe Charitable Foundation. “Permanent philanthropy is crucial for the vitality and growth of our communities.”
Each year, ECF awards one organization a maximum of $10,000 designated as an impact grant. This year’s impact grantee was the Down East Partnership for Children, and funding will support families with urgent need for essentials like food, car seats, bedding, gas cards and other supplies.
Funds for 2025 grants came from ECF’s community grantmaking fund, the Edgecombe Hospice Endowment, the Mary Ferebee Howard Endowment and the Lloyd Owens Endowment for the Arts in Edgecombe County. Each year, ECF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
