Futrell-Mauldin Community Foundation for Greater Rocky Mount awards more than $60,000 in grants
The Futrell-Mauldin Community Foundation for Greater Rocky Mount, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $60,630 in grants to 14 organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $1,500 to Autism Society of North Carolina for autism resource specialists in greater Rocky Mount
- $3,630 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region for Formula for Impact
- $3,000 to Down East Partnership for Children for concrete support for at-risk families
- $3,000 to Hill Family Farm Education Center for Spring Break Youth Life Skills Academy
- $8,000 to Meals on Wheels of Rocky Mount for frozen-food program
- $2,000 to Nash Central High School U.S. history class for tour of Baltimore and Philadelphia
- $5,000 to Peacemakers of Rocky Mount, Inc. for summer reading program
- $3,000 to Rocky Mount Family YMCA, Inc. for Harrison Family YMCA adaptive swim program
- $5,500 to The Salvation Army of Rocky Mount for Joshua’s Challenge Literacy Program
- $5,000 to Teach For America – North Carolina for retaining educators and leaders in Rocky Mount
- $4,500 to Tri-County Industries for TCI Works in-house learning store
- $5,000 to A Touch of the Father’s Love, Inc. Ministry & Food Pantry for neighbors in need in Nash County
- $7,500 to United Community Ministries for community shelter
- $4,000 to WAVE PTO for fifth-grade Washington D.C. trip
“It is critical to support local nonprofits and community organizations to foster resilient communities,” said Beth Turnage, advisory board president of the Futrell-Mauldin Community Foundation. “Our grants are designed to help build and sustain this resilience.”
Funds for 2025 grants came from FMCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, FMCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in greater Rocky Mount, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
