Greene County Community Foundation holds Mardi Gras gala
The board of directors of the Greene County Community Foundation (GCCF) celebrated Mardi Gras with a gala at the home of Horace Liles of Snow Hill, according to Christie Mozingo, GCCF board president. “People from as far away as Wilmington, Tarboro, New Bern, Kinston, Farmville and Snow Hill enjoyed scrumptious food, fine wine and the beauty of one of Snow Hill’s loveliest historic homes,” Mozingo said.
The GCCF holds a Mardi Gras fundraiser every other year on Fat Tuesday. “This is the first time it has been held in Mr. Liles’ home,” Mozingo said. “We out did ourselves this year with new menu items and the extended hours to accommodate all the people who wanted to attend.”
Judy Davenport served as chair of the event this year and in 2012. More than $4000 was raised for the GCCF community grants program that is held annually in the fall.
In addition to Mozingo, GCCF board members are: Michael Rhodes (vice president), Dr. Faith Bynum (secretary-treasurer), Erika Churchill, Judy Davenport, Ray Holloman, Beth Moye, Dora Pasour, Rebecca Pate, Jody Tyson, Nina Paul Vinson; Carol Taylor, and directors emeriti: Harold Bailey, Peggy Greene, Jean Jenkins and Lela Stevens.
