The Unifour Foundation Inc. Endowment awards $228,500 in grants
The Unifour Foundation Inc. Endowment, a fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation, has awarded $228,500 in grants to 31 organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $25,000 to Patrick Beaver Learning Resource Center, Inc. for expanding the accessibility of structured literacy tutoring
- $25,000 to Catawba County Partnership for Children for Ready Reset Center
- $12,500 to United Way of Caldwell County for backpack program
- $12,000 to Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry for behavioral health program
- $10,000 to Hickory Soup Kitchen for 100% Healthy Choice Grocery
- $10,000 to Caldwell House for Road to Recovery
- $8,000 to New Beginnings Hickory for operating expenses to add resident recovery manager
- $8,000 to Good Samaritan Clinic for vision clinic
- $7,500 to Western Carolina University for Keeping TABS for Autism
- $7,500 to The Salvation Army of Hickory for Shelter of Hope – Restful Sleep
- $7,500 to The Corner Table for general operating support
- $7,500 to Catawba County Hispanic Ministry, Inc. (Centro Latino) for Raices Fuertes, Comunidades Unidas (Strong Roots, United Communities)
- $7,500 to 957 Mobile Café for general operating support
- $7,000 to Council on Adolescents of Catawba Valley, Inc. for Healthy Youth Education program
- $6,000 to Family Care Center for transporting families
- $6,000 to Ashure Ministry, Inc. for general operating support for crisis assistance programs
- $5,000 to Western Piedmont Symphony, Inc. for music education and enrichment for fourth- and fifth-grade students
- $5,000 to Shining Hope Farms for mental health counseling program utilizing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
- $5,000 to Shepherds for Sheepdogs, Inc. for general operating support
- $5,000 to Hickory Museum of Art for Art for All
- $5,000 to Helping Hands Clinic of Caldwell County, Inc. for mental health program for the uninsured
- $5,000 to Girls on the Run Greater Piedmont for Breaking Down Barriers, Building Up Confidence
- $5,000 to Catawba Valley Behavioral Healthcare for primary care for uninsured adults with brain health conditions
- $5,000 to Catawba County Council on Aging for West Hickory Senior Center
- $5,000 to Burke United Christian Ministries for food pantry assistance
- $5,000 to Adult Life Programs, Inc. for adult day services operating support
- $4,000 to Caldwell Senior Center for general operating support
- $3,000 to Hickory Choral Society for education through music: children’s summer choral camp
- $2,000 to Catawba Valley Leadership Foundation for Strong Student Leadership program
- $1,500 to North Carolina Symphony for ensembles in the schools for students in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell or Catawba counties
- $1,000 to Hickory Landmarks Society for Heritage Days at Maple Grove

The Unifour Foundation Inc. Endowment was created in 1998 with the proceeds from the sale of the Hickory Merchants Association’s credit reporting company to Equifax. The endowment promotes general welfare among citizens in the four counties that comprise the Unifour area: Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba.
