Wake County Community Foundation awards over $15,000 in grants
The Wake County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $15,420 in grants to 12 organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $2,000 to BELONG NC for general operating support
- $1,500 to Building Independence – The Serving Cup for Building Independence: Wake County
- $500 to The Center for Volunteer Caregiving for in-home connections program
- $1,000 to Enloe High School Science Olympiad for general operating support
- $1,000 to Impact NC for Impact NC Feeds
- $2,420 to Joel House for support for general operating support
- $1,500 to Kiran, Inc. for “I believe I can fly!”
- $500 to Made4Me, Inc. for Making Abilities Possible
- $1,000 to Safe Families for Children – Greater Raleigh-Durham for Circle of Support
- $2,500 to Shield North Carolina for anti-human trafficking efforts in Wake County
- $500 to SOAR Outreach for Essentials for Empowerment
- $1,000 to Trail of Faith Farms for scholarship funding
- $1,500 to The Woman’s Club of Raleigh for engaging women in community service and support of economically disadvantaged students in Wake County
“Supporting local nonprofits and community organizations through grants is a true honor,” said Peter Roche, advisory board president of the Wake County Community Foundation. “Permanent philanthropy is fundamental to our community’s resilience.”
Funds for 2025 grants came from WCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Friends of BOMA Charitable Endowment. Each year, WCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Wake County Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in Wake County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Roche, board members include Michael Shaw (vice president/secretary), Whitney Browning, Caroline Fungaroli, Ellen Gorham, Bianca Harris, Delilah Jones, Samir Mehta, Ruth Peebles, Amanda Powell, Jignasa Sachcar and Maggie Stroud.
