The Warren County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $14,691 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

- $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Warren County Vision Screening Program
- $1,500 to the Warren County Farmers Market for Farmers Market Foodies Cooking Demonstrations
“We’re proud to support these organizations meeting important needs in our community,” said Crystal Smith, advisory board president of the Warren County Community Foundation. “Food insecurity impacts many members of our community and so we were especially honored to be able to support Loaves & Fishes Ministries with the largest individual grant in our affiliate’s history.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from WCCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, WCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
This year, WCCF decided to address food insecurity in Warren County with a $10,000 grant to Loaves & Fishes Ministry. According to data from Carolina Across 100 and NC Child compiled in NCCF’s 2024 Community Needs Assessment for Warren County, 17.5% of households in Warren County are food insecure. Of children in the county, 28.2% live in homes that are food insecure.
