Women for Women of Pitt County awards more than $100,000 in grants to local organizations

The Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment, a fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation, has awarded $100,340 in grants to 12 programs that improve the lives of women and girls locally.

“The Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment enables nonprofits to receive needed funds to provide invaluable services to women and girls in the community,” said Kimberly Williamson, endowment committee member. “The organizations chosen to receive funding offer a broad array of support in areas such as basic needs, health and well-being, and life skills and will make a positive impact in the lives of women and girls.”

Founded in 2005, Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment has a deep history of grantmaking and community impact. After making $750,000 in grants to charitable organizations over 15 years, it transitioned to become an endowment at NCCF in 2020, using the community foundation’s infrastructure to leverage resources and increase capacity in the community for perpetuity. Since partnering with NCCF, the endowment has awarded nearly $500,000 in grants.

“We are deeply grateful to Women for Women of Pitt County for their continued support of the StrongHER, now in its third year of programming and graduating its first cohort of young women,” said Watsi Sutton, Executive Director of Koinonia Community Solutions. “This grant will enable us to expand our reach and provide more young girls with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.”
