Tristian Goodwyn
Tristian Goodwyn is a recipient of the F.H. “Sammy” Ross Jr. and Gary “GJ” Johnston Memorial Scholarship. Originally from Newland, Goodwyn plans to study nursing at East Tennessee State University with the goal of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
At ETSU, Goodwyn is building a strong foundation in science and clinical practice, focusing on subjects like anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, while also developing the critical thinking and emotional intelligence needed to thrive in healthcare. Beyond academics, Goodwyn is passionate about growing into a nurse who listens deeply, leads with empathy, and treats every patient with dignity and respect. He hopes to work in underserved communities and participate in global health missions to provide care to those who need it most.
“I’ve always known that I wanted a career where I could make a real difference in people’s lives, and nursing gives me the opportunity to do just that […] It’s about being there during some of the most vulnerable moments in someone’s life and offering not just clinical care, but also compassion, strength, and reassurance”
