$170,000 awarded to Pasquotank, Perquimans nonprofits addressing youth poverty
The HCWGMW Endowment, a donor-advised fund administered by the North Carolina Community Foundation, has awarded $170,000 in grants to eight organizations focused on eliminating the cycle of poverty among local youth.
This year the endowment awarded the following grants through its application-based program:
- $25,000 to Albemarle Area United Way for the Community Care Collaborative program in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
- $25,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Albemarle for a homeless youth assistance program in Elizabeth City.
- $5,000 to the Dream Hunt & Fishing Program for field trips for students from Sheep-Harney Elementary School and Hertford Grammar.
- $35,000 to ECP Backpacks. ECP Backpacks provides weekend meals for children experiencing food insecurity.
- $5,000 to La Casa for the Bridge Program.
- $5,000 to Legal Aid of NC to provide legal services in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
- $45,000 to the Perquimans Education Foundation for the HELP Program.
- $25,000 to The Salvation Army for emergency cold weather shelter for families in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
The HCWGMW Endowment is part of the family of funds of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation, an affiliate of NCCF, and currently supports projects and programs focused on eliminating the cycle of poverty among youth in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
“For nearly ten years, the HCWGMW Endowment has encouraged collaboration around major issues facing our communities and we’re honored to have them in our family of funds,” said Mathew Scribner, advisory board president of NACF. “This year’s grantees are working tirelessly to meet community needs related to child poverty, like homelessness and food insecurity.”
Since 2016, the HCWGMW Endowment has provided more than $1.3 million in grant funding to nonprofits in the four counties served by the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation – Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
