Avery Community Foundation announces over $8,700 in grants
The Avery Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has announced $8,720 in grants to 10 organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted each of the following organizations $824 from its community grantmaking fund for a total of $4,120 in grants:
- Diaper Bank of NC for General Operating Support for Avery County Hygiene Distribution
- Freedom Trail Elementary for Amazing Shake 2025
- Oasis, Inc., for Operational Support for Opposing Abuse through Service, Information, and Shelter (OASIS)
- Pisgah Legal Services for Legal Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse in Avery County
- Special Olympics North Carolina for Avery County Special Olympics
The board also granted $4,600 from the Dewey Wells Citizenship Fund:
- $500 to Girl Scout Troop 10219
- $1,025 to Scouting America Troop 807
- $1,025 to Scouting America Cub Scout Pack 807
- $1,025 to Scouting America Troop 4807
- $1,025 to Scouting America Exploring Posts

The grants are a portion of community support provided by ACF this year. Earlier this year, ACF granted $180,000 through the NCCF Disaster Relief Fund.
