Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation announces the Jill Barnhill High Memorial Scholarship for Washington High School
The board of advisors of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation announces the establishment of the Jill Barnhill High Memorial Scholarship for Washington High School.
This scholarship will be a one-time award for a Washington High School senior who has demonstrated “academic rigor, athletic vigor, community service and has a well-rounded personality,” according to the written requirements. Recipients will be enrolling at a four-year college or university as a fulltime degree-seeking student.
“On behalf of my father and brother, I would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support for the Jill Barnhill High Memorial Scholarship,” said Hack High. “As a teacher in the public schools of Washington for almost thirty years, one of my mother’s greatest passions was educating young people,” she said. “The generosity of the donors will allow that legacy to continue.”
Beth Wilder, board president, said the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation provides the perfect vehicle for individuals and families to make lasting and meaningful contributions to our community. “We’re honored to partner with donors to administer scholarships and grants throughout Beaufort and Hyde counties,” she said.
Applications are available in the guidance office at Washington High School. The deadline for submitting applications is April 1.
