Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund awards $8,000 in grants
The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund, a North Carolina Community Foundation giving circle, has awarded $8,000 in grants to seven organizations supporting the local community.
The giving circle granted:
- $1,000 to Ahoskie Food Pantry for Power Pack Program
- $1,000 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Bertie-Hertford Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $1,000 to Dream Hunt & Fishing Program for Environmental Camps, Surf, Sound & Sand Camps
- $1,000 to The Gathering Place Ahoskie for Women’s Job Corps
- $1,000 to Good Shepherd Food Pantry of Bertie County, NC, Inc for fresh fruits, vegetables and juice
- $2,000 to New Ahoskie Baptist Church Community Development Center for Summer Adventure Academy Youth Literacy & Enrichment Program
- $1,000 to North Carolina Symphony for Music Discovery for Bertie or Hertford County Preschoolers
“When we come together, our giving can go further.” said Lindsay Vaughan, president of the Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund. “We’re pleased to partner in support of these organizations providing important resources for our community.”
Each year, the Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund uses dollars from its endowment to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund leadership
Members are volunteers who understand community needs. In addition to Vaughan, leadership includes Austine Evans (vice president) and Claudia Griffin (immediate past president).
