The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund is a giving circle of the North Carolina Community Foundation. The Women’s Fund leverages the power of collective giving through a local network that supports the community in a purposeful way. The Fund supports charitable organizations serving women, children and families in Bertie and Hertford counties.
The Women’s Fund is designed to maximize women’s leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating its membership, increasing charitable contributions and focusing on initiatives that address the areas of health, education and human services.
Members contribute a minimum of $300 annually. Membership cost includes:
A junior membership is available for women age 45 and under. Junior members contribute a minimum of $150 annually.
Annual contributions are tax-deductible and may be paid via cash, stock transfer, distribution from IRA (if applicable), or grant from donor advised fund or private foundation. The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund also welcomes donations through sponsorships, and members may make a higher annual donation.
Grant decisions are recommended by the giving circle’s members. All members are entitled to one vote that determines the organizations and programs that will receive annual funding.

The Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund will accept grant applications from March 8, 2024, to NOON on April 30, 2024. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted, including late submissions due to technology issues. Funds are available for qualified charitable organizations serving women, children and families in the local community.
Grants typically range from $500 to $2,500. In 2023, BHWF awarded $8,850 in grants through this competitive process.
Grants will be awarded to organizations serving women, children and families in Bertie and Hertford counties, with a focus on initiatives that address health, education and human services.
BHWF is a giving circle of the North Carolina Community Foundation. Organizations must apply for grants using NCCF’s online application system.
