BHCF awards 2014 grants to area nonprofits | North Carolina Community Foundation

The board of directors of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation announces two $540 awards from its community grantmaking fund, according to Kelly Crisp, board president. This year’s nonprofit recipients include:

Make A Wish of Eastern NC, which fulfills the wish of a child living in Beaufort or Hyde counties who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition;
Food Bank of the Albemarle, which provides food to programs that feed those in need in Beaufort and Hyde counties.

Crisp thanked the community for support of the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” she said. “These two agencies are providing important programs, and we are proud to be able to support them through contributions from the community.”

Shanon Carter, grants committee chair, noted that the board was continuing to reach out to small nonprofits in Beaufort and Hyde counties. “We deliberately focus on nonprofits that are helping with needs in our community,” he said. “We know that these grants will have a large and immediate impact on the work that they’re doing.”

The Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. The community fund was established to help support local charitable needs through annual grants. In addition to Crisp and Carter, Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation board members are: Bill Rich, Nicole Howard, Beth Wilder, Daniel Bergevin, Robin Skillen, Ed Mann, Read Allen, Pam Daw and Chip Edwards.
