Carteret Community Foundation awards more than $64,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Carteret Community Foundation recently announced $64,460 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund, J. O. and Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Elementary Education in Carteret County, J. O. and Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Wildlife Habitat Conservation and Pearl's Pantry Fund.

This year the board granted:

  • $4,000 to BackPack Friends for general operating support
  • $2,500 to the Broad Street Clinic Foundation, Inc. for the Dental Bus program
  • $520 to the Broad Street Clinic Foundation, Inc. for prescription medications for the uninsured
  • $4,000 to the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program, Inc for adult and child domestic violence counseling and education
  • $3,000 to the Carteret County General Hospital Foundation for the Evelyn's Closet program
  • $2,500 to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh for the Senior Pharmacy Program in Carteret County
  • $3,500 to the Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for the Carteret County Childhood Cancer Safety Net program
  • $3,000 to the Crystal Coast Autism Center for scholarships providing access to education and services for Carteret children
  • $4,000 to the Crystal Coast Hospice House for the purchase and installation of ice maker and dispenser for the family kitchen
  • $2,000 to the Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines for the Carteret County Girl Scout Leadership Experience
  • $3,500 to the Hope Mission of Carteret County, Inc for the Stow and Tow program
  • $520 to the Hope Mission of Carteret County, Inc for the An apple a day program
  • $1,500 to the Miracles in Motion Performing Arts Centre for general operating support
  • $5,000 to Morehead Elementary School for the Sail Into Reading and Anchor Your Learning program
  • $5,130 to the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust for preserve safety at Camp Sam Hatcher at Gales Creek Preserve
  • $2,500 to the North Carolina Symphony for the music education concert for Carteret County students
  • $4,480 to the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter Inc. for the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter and Education Center (OWLS) laundry room renovation
  • $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC for general operating support to fund families from Carteret County
  • $2,810 to the SIDCO Surface Interval Diving Company for the Lost Tankers program
  • $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina-Carteret County
  • $4,000 to Trail of Faith Farms for scholarship funding for Carteret County citizens
  • $2,500 to TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc.) for residential substance abuse recovery services for individuals from Carteret County
