Cherokee County Community Foundation awards more than $2,000 in grants

The Cherokee County Community Foundation (CCCF) has awarded $2,080 in grants to programs supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $1,080 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for its Harmful Substances Awareness Program
  • $500 to HIGHTS for transportation costs for its mediation services
  • $500 to Hospice House Foundation of WNC for general operating expenses

Funds for the grants came from CCCF’s community grantmaking fund.

“Giving is an act of joy, and we could not be more thankful to support these important organizations in our community,” said Kate DeLong, advisory board president of the Cherokee County Community Foundation.

CCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, CCCF uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to local nonprofit organizations.
