Chowan Community Funds Foundation awards more than $25,000 in grants
The Chowan Community Funds Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $25,630 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $2,500 to Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition Program for Chowan Meals on Wheels 2024-2025
- $500 to American Red Cross for disaster cycle services
- $3,500 to Boys & Girls Club of the Albemarle for general operating support
- $1,130 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Chowan County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $500 to Chowan Arts Council for general operating support for a marketing intern
- $2,500 to Chowan/Perquimans Smart Start Partnership for Reach Out and Read
- $2,500 to Dream Hunt & Fishing Program for general operating support
- $3,000 to Edenton Farmers Market for Continuing Healthy Living and Community Togetherness
- $1,000 Edenton Historical Commission for Edenton Tea Party Exhibit
- $500 to Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina for improving health outcomes for children with critical illnesses in Chowan County
- $1,500 to NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc. for Chowan County 4-H Camp Program
- $500 to The Salvation Army of Elizabeth City for emergency social services
- $3,000 to The Sisters of Strength Edenton NC for REFRESH (Reaching Every Family to Renew and Enhance Student Health and Hygiene)
- $3,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina – Chowan
“Supporting these local organizations is a privilege,” said Chris Ford, advisory board president of the Chowan Community Funds Foundation. “They provide so many great services for our community.”
Funds for 2024 grants came from CCFF’s community grantmaking fund and the Ann L. Sams Endowment. Each year, CCFF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Chowan Community Funds Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members live and work in Chowan County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
