The board of advisors of the Catawba Valley Community Foundation announces 2013 awards from its community grantmaking fund. This year’s recipients include:
Alexander County Habitat for Humanity—$1,000 for General Operating Support
Catawba County Historical Association—$1,500 for Emergency Flood Recovery
Catawba County Parenting Network—$1,000 for the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program
Family Care Center of Catawba Valley—$1,000 for the Just for Kids Fund
Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry—$2,000 for Medication Assistance
Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley—$1,000 for the Home Repair Ministry
Hiddenite Community Helpers—$1,000 for the Self-Serve Food Pantry
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC—$1,300 for the purchase of a commercial grade freezer for the Fairview Presbyterian Church Food Pantry
The Corner Table—$1,000 for Thursday To-Go Bags
South Caldwell Christian Ministries—$1,000 for the Food Pantry
TRIO at CCC&TI—$1,000 for the Leading by Doing Program
In 2013, the Catawba Valley Community Foundation’s 50 endowment funds awarded more than $600,000 in grants to local nonprofits and scholarship aid to area students. Since 1997, CVCF has distributed more than $6 million in grants and scholarships.
