{"tinyMCE_dummy":"","title":"Don and Audrey Bentley Scholarship awards inaugural recipient","url":"\/news\/don-and-audrey-bentley-scholarship-awards-inaugural-recipient","meta":{"title":"","description":"","excludeFromSitemap":"No"},"ordinal":999,"content":"<p><img style=\"margin: 5px; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/nmcdn.io\/e186d21f8c7946a19faed23c3da2f0da\/7868d48393ef4e3bb7bca8cdf7bc2f20\/files\/Emma-Shew--002-.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/>The&nbsp;Don and Audrey Bentley Scholarship recently announced the first recipient of the fund's scholarship award.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>Emma Ruth Shew, a Watauga High School Senior, was named the first recipient.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>The scholarship is named for the late Don and Audrey Bentley, natives of Watauga County.&nbsp;Their generous legacy funded an endowment established at the North Carolina Community Foundation with a grant from the Audrey L Bentley Trust, following her death in March 2019.
