The Greene County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $17,840 in grants to 13 organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

• $1,640 to America 250 for America 250 NC – Greene County commemoration
• $1,200 to Autism Society of NC for autism sensory kits for Greene County schools
• $2,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for Formula for Impact for Greene County
• $2,000 to Calvary Memorial United Methodist for Mission Team Food Insecurity Project
• $1,000 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Greene County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
• $1,000 to GC Kids On Stage, Inc. for KOS All Stars New Works showcase performance
• $1,000 to Greene Central High School for continuing ceramics support
• $1,000 to Greene County Arts and Historical Society for general operating support
• $1,500 to Greene County Public Library for Teens Lead internship program
• $1,000 to Home Health and Hospice Care dba 3HC for general operating support
• $1,000 to North Carolina Symphony for music discovery for Greene County preschoolers
• $1,500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Greene County vision screening program
• $1,500 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina – Greene County

“Our grants focused on building and sustaining resilient communities through our local nonprofits,” said Michael Rhodes, advisory board president of the Greene County Community Foundation. “We are grateful to the Shackelford family again this year for their gift in support of our grantmaking. Their generosity has allowed us to significantly increase our impact in Greene County.”

Funds for 2025 grants came from GCCF’s community grantmaking fund which included a generous contribution from the Frank and Lou Shackelford Family Foundation. Funds also came from the Clarence H. and Florence C. Moye Memorial Endowment. Each year, GCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
