Jackson County Community Foundation awards more than $18,000 in local grants
The board of advisors of the Jackson County Community Foundation recently announced $18,760 in local grant awards from the community grantmaking fund.
This year the board granted:
- $2,000 to Equinox Ranch for the Equinox Ranch meeting room
- $1,360 to Blue Ridge Health for Community Health Services for Jackson County
- $1,000 to Blue Ridge Mountains Health Project, Inc. (Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic) for increasing access to dental care in Jackson County
- $2,500 to Vecinos, Inc. Farmworker Health Program for farmworker prescription medications
- $1,800 to Mountain Projects for training programs for Jackson County Circles of Hope
- $1,300 to Fontana Regional Library for the Reading Rover Bookmobile 2018 program
- $1,500 to Full Spectrum Farms for the advanced pottery program
- $2,000 to the Thirtieth Judicial District Domestic Violence-Sexual Assault Alliance, Inc. for the Immigrant Outreach Project
- $1,000 to the Community Table for general operating support
- $2,300 to the Western North Carolina AIDS Project for WNCAP’s Syringe Exchange Program of Franklin
- $2,000 to the Hospice House Foundation of WNC for oversight of the construction of the Hospice Inpatient Facility in Franklin, NC
Ken Torok, board president, thanked the community for its support of the Jackson County Community Foundation. “We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community,” he said. “We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported the Jackson County Community Foundation and our work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
