JCCF board members conduct site visit at The Community Table

A panoramic view of The Community Table, a grantee of the Jackson County Community Foundation.

Jackson County Community Foundation board members Tommy Chisholm and Elisabeth St. John had the opportunity to conduct a site visit with a local grantee, The Community Table, located in Sylva.

Aiming to help assess the grant impact on the community and organization, the effectiveness of the grant and help identify ways to improve the grant process, Chisholm and St. John were able to see first-hand just how The Community Table feeds the hungry with dignity.

By providing a welcoming environment where need is self-determined, The Community Table is able to serve any member of the community in need, especially the elderly, disabled on fixed incomes, and the working poor.

St. John reports that the organization operates with a unique concept of a clientele restaurant, with menus posted daily, and a dining room open four nights a week that is staffed by volunteers, in addition to the nutritious food pantry.
