Jones fund improves beloved park
The Frost Park Endowment Fund, a fund of the Jones County Community Foundation, provided the resources necessary to improve the park it was set up to support – Frost Park in Maysville.
Improvements to the park were made possible by donations made to the fund in honor of Mrs. Geneva Ryan Christensen, a long-time Maysville resident who passed away in February. During her life, Mrs. Christensen volunteered her time to help maintain the park that holds a dear place in many local residents’ hearts.
Members of the Old North Church youth group from Marblehead, MA assisted in the improvement project as part of a one-week community service visit to Jones County. They helped remove the park’s old playground equipment, install new swings and expand equipment’s safety fall zone.
Usage of the park has increased greatly due to recent improvements, according to Dan Ryan, a Jones affiliate board member. “The park has become a selling point for our town, a sign of what is good about living in Maysville,” he said.
