The board of advisors of the Lenoir County Community Foundation announces 2011 awards from its community fund, according to Dr. Brantley Briley, board president.
This year’s nonprofit recipients include:
Boy Scouts of America – East Carolina Council: for their “Learning for Life” program, a school-based initiative in character education for elementary and middle-school students;
Prevent Blindness NC: for the Preschool Photo-Refractive Vision Screening Program;
Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines: for their Girl Scout Community Outreach Program;
Southeast Elementary School of Kinston: for a field trip for fourth graders.
Briley thanked the community for supporting the Lenoir County Community Foundation. “These grants are vital to our quality of life,” he said. “The generosity of those who support Lenoir County’s community fund enables critical programs and organizations to continue to strengthen the community.”
