Lenoir County Community Foundation awards more than $16,000 in grants
The Lenoir County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $16,060 in grants to six organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $5,000 to Backpack Buddies of Lenoir County, a program of First Presbyterian Church and Lenoir County Public Schools, for general operating support
- $3,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for Formula for Impact for Lenoir County
- $3,000 to Eastern Pregnancy Information Clinic for technology upgrades
- $1,000 to New Life Faith Center for EOG Success Academy
- $2,000 to Ripe for Revival for Mobile Market Program
- $2,060 to The Salvation Army of Kinston for Winter Rent and Utilities Assistance Program
“Supporting local nonprofits strengthens the fabric of our community,” said Ann Cherry, advisory board president of the Lenoir County Community Foundation. “This year, we were proud to partner with the neighboring Greene County Community Foundation to focus on access to childcare and food security which are critical issues facing our communities.”
Advisory board members from both NCCF affiliate foundations spent time together learning about needs facing the region to inform this year’s grantmaking decisions. The Lenoir and Greene community foundations matched each other’s support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain by awarding $3,000 to the organization. Foundations also chose to focus $2,000 each on addressing food insecurity.
Funds for 2026 grants came from the community grantmaking fund, the Oakland Fund and the Warren and Barbara Perry Fund. Each year, LCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
