The Macon County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $14,390 in grants to eight organizations supporting the local community. 

The board of advisors granted: 

• $2,000 to 828 VETS for 828 VETS professionalization 
• $505 to The Bascom for Creative Youth Partnership program  
• $2,000 to Counseling and Psychotherapy Center of Highlands for offering expansion 
• $2,000 to The Gordon Center for Children for health and safety standards 
• $1,885 to Macon County Care Network for Macon County Hunger Relief program 
• $2,000 to Pisgah Legal Services for survivors of domestic violence and child abuse in Macon County 
• $2,000 to Vecinos, Inc. Farmworker Health Program for mental health transition space 
• $2,000 to Winding Stair Foundation for Franklin Farm Hub

“Supporting local nonprofits and community organizations through grants is a true honor,” said Kevin Holland, advisory board president of the Macon County Community Foundation. “Permanent philanthropy is essential for building robust communities.” 

Funds for 2025 grants came from MCCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, MCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches. 

The grants are a portion of community support provided by MCCF this year. Earlier this year, MCCF granted $180,000 through the NCCF Disaster Relief Fund. The grants were awarded to local organizations to support long-term recovery, resiliency and unmet needs related to Hurricane Helene. Learn more about these grants.

Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in Macon County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities.
