Montgomery County Fund awards more than $26,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Montgomery County Fund announces more than $26,000 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.

This year’s nonprofit recipients include:

  • $1,200 to the Central NC Council, Boy Scouts of America for Montgomery County ScoutReach
  • $2,000 to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina for family recruitment
  • $4,000 to Communities In Schools of Montgomery County for student support services
  • $2,100 to East Middle School for Occupation Station
  • $4,000 to Montgomery County 4-H
  • $1,500 to Montgomery County Schools for Montgomery County DARE
  • $1,500 to Montgomery County Schools for Under the Big Top - MCS and MCC Back to School Event
  • $2,700 to the Montgomery County Schools Early College High School for Montgomery County Early College (MCEC) STEAM Ahead
  • $900 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Montgomery County
  • $2,500 to the Randolph County Family Crisis Center for Montgomery County Family Crisis Center phone system
  • $1,200 to the Wescare Center for Children for technology upgrade
  • $1,950 to West Middle School for West Middle School Media Center Casual Reading Center
  • $1,000 to West Montgomery High School for "We Are Job Ready" (employment opportunities for disabled youth)

Brady Dickson, board president, thanked the community for its support of the Montgomery County Fund. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Montgomery County’s community fund.”
