Moore County Community Foundation awards nearly $97,000 in grants

The Moore County Community Foundation has awarded $96,930 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $2,000 to Alzheimer’s Association NC Chapter for Moore County Healthy Brain, Healthy Body, Healthy You—four-part series
  • $1,500 to ArtistYear for Moore County
  • $1,560 to Arts Council of Moore County for PAMS program and ACMC Youth Theatre 2023-24
  • $1,500 to Authors in Moore Schools for general operating support
  • $3,000 to Autism Society of North Carolina for autism resource specialists in Moore County
  • $1,000 to Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills for Sponsor A Child programing
  • $2,500 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Moore County Childhood Cancer Safety Net
  • $1,500 to Companion Animal Clinic of the Sandhills Foundation for surgical equipment for Sandhills Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic
  • $2,000 to Family Promise of Moore County for client and rental assistance fund
  • $3,000 to Friend to Friend for Housing – Hope – Stability
  • $500 to Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines for Girl Scout Leadership Experience in Moore County
  • $2,000 to Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills, Inc. for aging in place critical home repair
  • $2,000 to Monarch for Creative Arts and Community Center
  • $1,000 to Moore Buddies Mentoring for program enrichment
  • $1,000 to Moore County Literacy Council for family literacy
  • $25,000 to Moore Free & Charitable Clinic for general operating support
  • $15,000 to Northern Moore Family Resource Center for HOPE (Harnessing Opportunity – Promoting Education) Academy Preschool
  • $500 to Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Southern Pines for Matthew 25 Ministry
  • $4,000 to Prancing Horse, Inc. for 2023 program support
  • $2,500 to Pretty In Pink Foundation for eliminating financial barriers to breast cancer treatment in Moore County
  • $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Moore County
  • $2,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill for Moore County Cares Fund
  • $2,600 to Sandhills Children’s Center for universal exercise unit for physical therapy
  • $2,000 to Sandhills Machine, Inc. for AAU World Championship
  • $500 to Sandhills PRIDE for expanding safe zones and supportive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community in the Sandhills
  • $2,000 to Sandhills Student Assistance, Inc. for general operating support
  • $3,500 to Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care for emergency healthcare assistance
  • $5,000 to The Arc of Moore County for family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • $2,770 to Tides Sandhills for general operating support
  • $1,500 to TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc.) for residential substance abuse recovery services for individuals from Moore County
  • $1,000 to Weymouth Center for Weymouth Equestrians

Funds for the grants came from MCCF’s community grantmaking fund, the John W. Roffe and Marjorie A. Roffe Endowment Fund and the St. Joseph of the Pines Charitable .

“A vibrant community invests in itself,” said Greg Zywocinski, advisory board president of the Moore County Community Foundation. “These organizations are doing important work that deserves our support.”

MCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, MCCF uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
