The North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) is pleased to announce the 2014 grant recipients from the statewide Women’s Fund of North Carolina, according to Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, NCCF president and CEO. The total awarded to the six organizations was $11,500.

Receiving $3,000 each were:

• Kids First, Inc., Elizabeth City
• The Family Violence prevention Center, Inc. (dba Interact, Raleigh)

Receiving $1,500 each were:

• Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Wilmington
• Hospitality House, Boone
• United Community Ministries, Rocky Mount

Finally, $1,000 was awarded to Communities In Schools of Lee County, Sanford.

NCCF’s statewide Women’s Fund focuses on programming that supports women and/or children, with particular emphasis on women’s health and leadership issues. Programs must serve areas within NCCF’s 67-county service area. The selection committee is comprised of representatives from most of NCCF’s local women’s giving programs from across the state. “These organizations help fill critical needs for women and children in our state and epitomize the kind of programs that the statewide Women’s Fund aims to support,” Tolle Whiteside said.

NCCF’s nine regionally based women’s giving programs include the Women’s Giving Network of Wake County; the Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund; the Women Givers of Northeast North Carolina, which serves Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties; the Currituck-Dare Woman’s Fund; the Women Givers of Nash-Rocky Mount; the Art of Giving, a collective of Triangle women sponsored in conjunction with the Triangle Community Foundation; the Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover County; the Cary Women’s Giving Network; and Moore Women, A Giving Circle. Additional giving groups are in the planning stages.
