New Hanover County Community Foundation awards $47,000 in local grants

New Hanover County Community Foundation board members and grantee representatives gather for a photo at this year’s grant awards ceremony where $47,000 in local grants were awarded.

The board of advisors of the New Hanover County Community Foundation recently announced $47,000 in local awards from the community grantmaking fund , the Suzanne and George Taylor Endowment, the Food Bank of Coastal Carolina Fund and the 1898 Memorial Fund at a grant awards ceremony. 

This year the board granted:

  • $3,000 to “Bread for Life” for the enhanced nutrition program
  • $5,000 to the Assistance League of Greater Wilmington for the Operation School Bell program
  • $2,500 to the Cape Fear Literary Council for the Laptops for Literacy program
  • $3,480 to DREAMS of Wilmington for general operating support
  • $3,000 to the Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear for the Families Forward Traditional Housing program
  • $2,500 to First Fruit Ministries to replace overhead lights in the Wilmington Dream Center
  • $3,200 to Lump to Laughter for the Angel Fund Home Preservation for single-parent families affected by breast cancer program
  • $5,000 to NourishNC Inc. for the New Hanover Kids- Healthy Not Hungry program
  • $2,000 to Oasis NC for Coding Camp for Students with Autism
  • $2,500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for the Star Pupils New Hanover County program
  • $3,400 to the Anchor United Methodist Church for the Switchin’ Gears- Bikes with Helmets for Every Child program
  • $5,000 to the Wilmington Children’s Museum Inc. for The Science of You exhibit
  • $2,500 to the Wilmington Youth Initiative Inc. for the First Tee Life Skills Experience program
  • $3,920 to Young Women Leading Inc. for the Removing Barriers for a Better Education- Food and Nutrition program
