Nominations being accepted for Johnston County volunteer community service award

The Johnston County Community Foundation board of advisors is accepting nominations for the Frances Finch Hobart Award for Volunteer Community Service.

Established in 2006, the award honors a Johnston County resident who helps others solve social problems by mobilizing volunteers and displays a willingness for ongoing involvement. The recipient should demonstrate vision, vitality, determination, selflessness, generosity and a caring heart.

The Frances Finch Hobart Award for Volunteer Community Service is a fund of the Johnston County Community Foundation (JCCF). The fund was established by Hobart’s husband John, a former JCCF advisory board member. The recipient of the award is able to designate a local nonprofit organization to receive a $1,500 grant.

Previous recipients include Dr. Carolyn Ennis, Anita Liverman, Anesha Johnson, Norwood Williams, Tom Ricks, Nikki Dyke, Evelyn Aranda, Don Stephenson, Cornell Cox, Sarah Yard, Linwood Byrd, Noela Woodall, Ramona Cash and Jeanelle McCain.

The nomination form is now available, and nominations will be accepted through Nov. 30.
