The Northeast NC Coastal Research and Environmental Education Fund announces a grant award to the North Carolina Coastal Federation.

The endowment fund supports charitable uses in the field of coastal scientific research and environmental education in the northeastern counties of North Carolina. The endowment was initially established with a gift from Bill and Peggy Birkemeier. “This fund helps support the important work of a growing network of local organizations with funding for scientific research and environmental education,” said Peggy Birkemeier. “We are pleased that this grant will be used to host a public workshop later this fall promoting best management practices for rainwater harvesting for homeowners.” The program will be led by Ann Daisey, community conservationist for Dare Soil and Water Conservation District, in collaboration with the NC Coastal Federation.
